Registered Nurse Needed for Day/Night shift Full-Time or Part-Time (10-hour shifts)

Amerisafe Group is currently looking to hire Registered Nurses to work a flexible schedule that would be daylight or night shift hours. Ideal candidates are from or can easily commute to Wetzel County. Occupational Health experience is preferred, but not required. Previous ER experience is definitely a plus. Paid orientation/training is provided at the job site.

Day Shift: 10 hour shifts; opportunity for overtime as well

Location: Wetzel County, West Virginia

Job Description
This position is responsible for employee assessment and treatment. By recognizing the need for expedient and proper care for the employee and a timely return to work, the nurse makes pertinent observations and determines appropriate interventions, which may include referral.

Job Summary
Before performing the following functions, the RN must demonstrate competency in practice through knowledge, evaluation and/or return demonstration of the following hands-on skills:

  • Utilization and implementation of standing protocols and practices
  • Administration of medication and treatments skillfully and correctly
  • Utilization of sound assessment skill in determining appropriate nursing interventions and patient referral


Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Initiates and implements employee care
  • Maintains acceptable standards of employee care
  • Accurately and promptly implements standing protocols and practices
  • Administers medication and treatments, skillfully and correctly, per standing protocols and practices
  • Maintains standards of accurate and complete recording and reporting
  • Completes and distributes forms as applicable to each site
  • Utilizes sound assessment skills in determining the need for employee referral
  • Supports light duty work assignments, which facilitates the employees' return to work while allowing for any on-going indicated treatment
  • Identifies abnormal or potentially problematic health conditions of employees and reports these to the supervisor utilizing the medical alert form
  • Acts as a professional liaison between medical providers and the employer
  • Arranges to have needed supplies and equipment on hand
  • Supports and enforces infection control policies and procedures
  • Adheres to OSHA standards, including maintaining OSHA Log if directed
  • Consistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as re-prioritizing work as necessary
  • Demonstrate ability to handle emergency situations in a prompt, precise and professional manner
  • Provide personal patient care to provide comfort and well-being to the employee, acknowledging physiological and psychological needs
  • Cooperates and maintains a good rapport with employees, peers and company representatives
  • Serves on company committees as requested such as the safety committee


Minimum Physical & Envirommental Requirements

  • Work is performed on a construction or plant site
  • Constant exposure to bio-hazards such as blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids, sticks, cuts and contagious diseases
  • Possible exposure to virus, disease and infection from patients and specimens in working environment
  • Moderate walking of long distances, climbing, standing, lifting, bending and carrying up to 40 lbs
  • May experience extensive walking and climbing
  • Visual and hearing acuity
  • Manual and finger dexterity
  • Lifting, moving and supporting patients
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule
  • May have to deal with employees experiencing traumatic situations


Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a professional degree
  • Current West Virginia state RN license in good standing
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Previous occupational health nursing or emergency care experience preferred, but will consider nurses with other background
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent decision-making and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work with minimum direction or supervision
  • Professional demeanor
