The course utilizes a stair-stepped educational process that involves both classroom and manipulative skills learning.

The program discusses the use of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) for all scenario-based exercises, and focuses on selected objectives of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1670 Rescue Standard.

In addition, the course meets the training objectives established by the performance and capabilities evaluations described in Appendix F of the Confined Space Entry Standard established by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) under 29 CFR 1910.146.

Fire Extinguisher Training Course

This 2-hour course teaches participants how to properly use a Fire Extinguisher during an emergency. Although proper usage may seem simple to most, properly selecting and using a Fire Extinguisher requires an individual to recognize and understand the different classes and stages of fires as well as a Fire Extinguisher’s acceptable applications and limitations.

These personnel would take no further action beyond notifying the proper authorities of the release.

This course is designed to meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements established under the Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Standards (29 CFR 1910.120 or 29 CFR 1926.65) when paired with site-specific instruction.
