Manufacturing Safety

In today’s economy having a proactive and robust Health and Safety Program can be the difference between business success or failure. Amerisafe has extensive experience in guiding manufacturers on the essential elements of successful safety programs, risk management, safety training and other aspects of manufacturing health and safety. Our Safety Consultants are exceptionally qualified to provide services to manufacturers, and are supported by a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIH) on every project.

Manufacturing Health & Safety Programs & Training

Manufacturing offers the unique challenges of often working near heavy machinery, conveyor belts, combustible liquids and other hazards. Associated Distribution Centers, production facilities and warehouses can also be noisy, fast-paced and potentially dangerous. Amerisafe's Safety Consultants are qualified to recognize these hazards, identify meaningful controls and assist in implementing manufacturing safety solutions. Our cadre of Safety Professionals focuses beyond merely regulatory compliance, and examines all potential risks in the workplace to adhere to OSHA manufacturing standards.

Manufacturing Safety Training

Amerisafe's Safety Professionals can provide a wide-range of health and safety training that meets OSHA manufacturing standards, industry Best Practices and manufacturer requirements.

Our manufacturing safety training courses include, but are not limited to:

  • OSHA 10 and 30 Hour Courses
  • Line Management Responsibility for Safety
  • Powered Industrial Trucks and Aerial Lifts
  • Personal Protective Equipment
  • Handling Materials
  • Use and Maintain Equipment
  • Walking/Working Surfaces and Fall Protection
  • Industrial Hygiene
  • Ergonomics and Material Handling
  • Respiratory Protection
  • First Aid/CPR/AED/Bloodborne Pathogens
  • Manufacturer Specific Safety Procedures

Amerisafe can conduct a Gap Analysis of your current training to identify deficiencies relevant to applicable OSHA Standards, as well as potential shortcomings that could lead to injuries or illnesses. All of our safety courses follow a model of first conducting a needs assessment, followed by development or customization of course content, to presentation which engages workers and produces desirable learning objectives

Manufacturing Safety Culture

Without health and safety as a value in manufacturing operations, you are increasing the risk for workplace injury, potential delays in production, and other undesired outcomes. Our Safety Consultants can guide and help facilitate a proactive manufacturing safety culture at your facility by:

  • Conducting a Gap Analysis of your company to identify opportunities for improvement and advancing the safety culture
  • Developing a Guidance Plan outlining steps and responsibilities for improvement
  • Providing managers and supervisors with the appropriate training to recognize and execute their responsibilities for safety
  • Providing leadership in developing proactive measures, practices and metrics that prevent incidents and ensure compliance with OSHA standards

Manufacturing Safety Program Assessments

Amerisafe's Safety Consultants utilize proven techniques to assess a manufacturer’s status in various elements necessary for the manufacturing safety program success. We can conduct these assessments as facility-specific inspections, comprehensive company program audits, work station or job-specific evaluations, “mock” OSHA inspections or any other format desired. The outcome of our assessments focus on recognized deficiencies, opportunities for improvement and advancing the company safety culture.

Assessments can include:

  • Evaluating a manufacturer’s written Health and Safety Programs for OSHA Compliance, industry Best Practices, acceptable risk management and other factors.
  • Conducting a “deep dive” into the company’s implementation of Management Commitment, Employee Engagement and other essential elements
  • Industrial hygiene monitoring of the workplace for chemical and physical hazards, with the warranted recommendations based on results.
  • Evaluating if health and safety hazards have been effectively identified, controlled or eliminated.
